Your engineering chief of staff

Know what your engineers actually shipped.

BuiltBrief is an agent that reads your GitHub and writes you a two-minute brief every Monday: what moved forward, what's stuck, and what needs you. In plain English, with every claim linked to its evidence.

Read-only GitHub access · First brief in minutes · Covers people and AI coding agents

What lands in your inbox

A memo, not a dashboard.

No charts to interpret and no engineering vocabulary. Outcomes first, then what's waiting, then the questions worth asking.

Weekly brief · FieldnoteSep 29 – Oct 5, 2026 · Needs attention

Annual plans are live in checkout; the Notion importer has waited 9 days for a review.

4 merged · 3 confirmed live · 6 started · 2 waiting 3+ days · 5 issues closed across 3 repos
What moved forward

Customers can now buy annual plans

Checkout offers a yearly option and the pricing page shows the saving. Upgrading mid-month is finished but not live yet.

Why it matters: This was the top request from larger accounts and should lift cash collected up front.

Search is faster for big workspaces

Searches in workspaces with many documents return results without the long pause customers reported.

Why it matters: Slow search was the most common complaint in large-account renewals.

Waiting or stuck

Notion import is ready but nobody has reviewed it

Open for 9 days with passing checks and no review yet.

Database driver upgrade is blocked

Changes were requested and automated checks are failing; open for 4 days.

Worth raising with the team

Is the Notion importer waiting on a product decision, or just on review time?

It's the onboarding feature sales asked for, and it has been ready for over a week.

AI agents. Two of the annual-plan changes carried AI-agent signals; both were reviewed before merging, and one is live.

What this brief can't see
  • Work outside GitHub: design, meetings, planning, support and anything not linked to a pull request.
"Live" means GitHub recorded a successful production deployment of that exact change. "Merged" work is finished but may not have reached customers yet. AI-agent markers are signals, not proof. Briefs describe work, never individual people.
Why it's different

Activity isn't progress. BuiltBrief knows the difference.

Merged isn't shipped

Code that's merged may still be sitting undeployed. BuiltBrief only says "live" when GitHub recorded a production deployment of that exact change.

More code isn't more progress

No line counts, commit counts or velocity charts. It reads what each change does and tells you the outcome, grouped the way you think about the product.

Every claim has a receipt

Each item links to the pull requests behind it. If the evidence doesn't support a claim, the claim is dropped before the brief reaches you.

Built for teams with AI agents

Your team now includes agents. Your updates should too.

When Copilot, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or Devin open pull requests, BuiltBrief tells you what that work achieved, whether anyone reviewed it, and whether it reached customers. Bots are never billed.

What you get

  • What moved forward, in product language
  • What's waiting, and for how long
  • Questions worth raising this week
  • Risks spotted in the changes themselves
  • What AI-agent work achieved

What you never get

  • Rankings or ratings of people
  • Commit counts, line counts or "velocity"
  • Working hours or online status
  • Claims without a linked source
  • Anything your developers can't read too
How it works

Five minutes to set up. Then it just arrives.

  1. Install the GitHub App

Read-only. Choose up to 5 repositories. Nothing to configure in your codebase.

  2. Read your first brief

BuiltBrief covers the last 7 days straight away, so you see what it does before the first Monday.

  3. Get one every Monday

By email at 7am your time, plus a monthly round-up. Prefer daily? Switch it in settings.

Pricing

One flat price. Never per seat.

Engineering analytics tools charge per developer and need a sales call. BuiltBrief costs the same whether your team is three people or three people and ten agents.

Payments are handled by Stripe's Managed Payments, which collects the right sales tax or VAT for your location.

$79 / month
or $790 a year (two months free)

Questions

Things founders ask first

Is this a way to watch my developers?

No. BuiltBrief writes about work and the product, never about people. It doesn't name, rank or compare anyone, and author names never reach the model that writes the brief. Developers can read every brief through the team link and add context next to anything it says.

What does it read, exactly?

Through a read-only GitHub App: pull requests (descriptions, commits and diffs), issues, review status, automated checks and deployment records, for up to 5 repositories you choose. It can't write anything, and it never clones your repositories.

Does my code get stored or used for training?

Diff excerpts are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to summarize each pull request, then discarded by BuiltBrief. We keep titles, links and statuses so each claim can point to its evidence. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, our API content isn't used to train models.

How is "shipped" different from "merged"?

Merged means the code is finished and in the main branch. BuiltBrief only calls something live when GitHub has a successful production deployment for that exact change. If you don't record deployments in GitHub, the brief says so instead of guessing.

We use AI coding agents. Does it handle that?

Yes. It notices common coding-agent signals (agent accounts, branch names, commit trailers) and tells you what agent-assisted work achieved and whether it was reviewed. Signals are hints, not proof, so it never labels work as human-only.

What does it cost?

$79 a month or $790 a year per workspace, flat. Up to 5 repositories and 5 email readers, plus a team link for everyone else. Bots and agents are never billed. The first 14 days are free and don't need a card.

What happens after the trial?

Briefs stop until you subscribe. Nothing is charged automatically, because we never asked for a card. If you leave, uninstall the GitHub App and delete your workspace from settings.
